About Me

Hi, my name is Jaimie. I am a Graphic Designer based in Sydney NSW.

Growing up in a semi-rural area, buildings didn’t rise above two stories, our house was situated next to farmland and I was used to a lot of space. School excursions and a rare day trip were my only introductions to city life, so you can understand my shock when I found myself in the concrete jungle.

There was a job listing on Seek, a recruitment website, asking for a student or recent University graduate to join their young professional program as an Associate Graphic Designer. It was October and I was a few months away from graduating with a Bachelor of Visual Communication and Design, but decided it couldn’t hurt to apply, though the job was based in Sydney and I did not yet have my degree. Determined to give it my best, I applied regardless.

To my delight I was offered a position within the company. February the next year I started an exciting adventure working for DXC Technology. Working with DXC was a life changing experience. For the first 3 months I shadowed the other senior designers, I learnt invaluable information and experience, learning the business ins and outs, it made me appreciate the opportunity to work my way up in a large corporation. I am constantly looking for ways to improve and I love to listen to my peers and colleagues talk about their different perspectives and experience. Eventually I was given the opportunity to work on my own multi-million dollar contracts.

I followed a creative brief then researched the client to create professional, consistent and brand related bid covers, infographics, presentations etc. Working with Bid Managers, Proposal Managers, Writers, Sales Executives, Technician Leads and Opportunity Owners to create amazing visual storytelling graphics which took the the clients on a journey of digital transformation. Our team was a close knit unit and occasionally we would ask each other for advice and throw ideas around. This was one of my favourite things when working with a team.

Due to COVID 19 the company had to re-structure the teams within the organisation. Multiple positions were made redundant, and unfortunately my role was one of them. I looked at this change as a positive experience.
